The Language Teachers’ Association of the Northern Territory Inc. is an organisation that aims to connect the language teachers of the Northern Territory and provide support for those teachers through professional development, language events and networking.
Due to the tyranny of distance in the Northern Territory, communication between language teachers can be difficult. LTANT provides a gateway for communication by this website, email lists, the Newsletter, languages events, languages representatives and professional development sessions.
LTANT provides a Newsletter to all members every term of the school year. This Newsletter provides teachers the opportunity to share their classrooms and ideas with others in the language community. It also provides information about upcoming events, conferences, competitions, professional development and the like for teachers who may not have easy access to this website.
LTANT language representatives are key contact people for individual languages who undertake to form a communicative network of the teachers of their language. Language representatives may act on behalf of their network to inform Executive of events or specific needs. As we are a small organisation, individual teachers are also encouraged to contact the LTANT executive directly. Contact details can be found on the Contact Us page.
LTANT aims to facilitate professional development opportunities for language teachers both independently and in conjunction with organisations including Asia in Schools, the Endeavour Language Fellowships and other teachers’ organisations.
